I think a lot of us are still looking at the wrong numbers.
A post gets 30k views → “Wow, this performed really well.”
Another gets 3k views → “Meh.”
But then you look closer…
The 30k-view post brought almost nothing.
The 3k-view post got shared by the right people, brought profile visits, started conversations, and generated a few leads.
Which one would you rather have?
Exactly.
I’ve been paying more attention lately to what people do after they see the content, rather than just how many people saw it.
Things like:
• Shares
• Saves
• Profile visits
• DMs
• Link clicks
• Actual leads/sales
Views are still useful. I’m not saying they don’t matter.
But I think we’ve become a little too obsessed with them.
A viral post isn’t necessarily a good post.
Sometimes the boring post that 2,000 of the right people see is worth more than the “viral” one that 100,000 random people see.
So here’s something I’d suggest trying this week:
Look at your last 10 posts.
Forget the views for a minute.
Find the 3 posts that generated the most meaningful actions.
Then ask yourself:
What did those 3 posts have in common?
The topic?
The format?
The hook?
The audience?
The CTA?
There’s probably a pattern there.
And that pattern is usually more useful than copying whatever is currently “going viral.”
Curious though — what are you personally optimizing for right now?
Reach, followers, engagement, leads, or sales?
I’m interested to see what everyone here is actually measuring.
